About Catharanthus Soirée® Mix

Catharanthus Soirée® Mix, commonly known as Madagascar Periwinkle or Annual Vinca, is a premium flowering plant renowned for its outstanding heat tolerance, vibrant colours and continuous flowering. The Soirée® series produces masses of large, eye-catching flowers in a stunning mix of shades including white, pink, rose, lavender, purple, red and bi-colour combinations, creating a colourful display from late spring until the first frosts.

Growing to approximately 20–35cm tall with a spread of 25–40cm, these compact, bushy plants are covered in glossy dark green foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. Unlike many bedding plants, Catharanthus thrives in hot, sunny conditions and continues flowering even during periods of dry weather. Its long-lasting blooms make it an excellent choice for borders, containers, hanging baskets and window boxes.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering display.
• Choose a warm, sheltered position protected from strong winds.
• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil.
• Suitable for containers, raised beds and garden borders.
• Improve heavy soils by incorporating compost and horticultural grit before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its pot and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the root ball level with the surrounding soil surface.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Space plants approximately 25–30cm apart for a full, colourful display.

Care & Maintenance

Catharanthus Soirée® Mix is easy to grow and performs exceptionally well throughout the summer.

• Water regularly during the first few weeks after planting.
• Once established, water only when the soil begins to dry.
• Avoid overwatering, as excessively wet soil can damage the roots.
• Feed every 2–3 weeks with a high-potash liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
• Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser when planting.
• Remove weeds regularly from around the plants.
• Water container-grown plants more frequently during prolonged hot weather.
• Ensure excellent drainage at all times.

Pruning

Very little pruning is required.

• Remove faded flowers if desired to keep plants looking tidy.
• Deadheading is generally unnecessary, as plants are self-cleaning.
• Trim lightly if plants become leggy during the season.
• Remove damaged or yellowing leaves as required.
• Pinch out young growing tips early in the season to encourage bushier growth if desired.

Common Problems

Catharanthus Soirée® Mix is generally healthy and easy to grow.

• Poor drainage can lead to root or stem rot.
• Overwatering is the most common cause of poor performance.
• Aphids and whiteflies may occasionally appear on young growth.
• Leaf spot may occur in cool, damp conditions with poor air circulation.
• Plant only after the risk of frost has passed, as cold temperatures can damage or kill the plants.

All standard deliveries will be completed within 5-7 working days via DPD Couriers, any delay to this delivery time, the customer will be notified by One of our staff.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
