• Clematis ‘Nelly Moser’ is a classic large-flowered deciduous climber prized for its striking bi-colour blooms.

• Produces pale pink flowers with a bold deep pink stripe running down the centre of each petal.

• Large, star-shaped blooms can reach 15–20 cm across.

• Flowers appear in late spring to early summer, often followed by a second flush in late summer.

• Mid-green foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the dramatic flowers.

• Typically grows 2–3 metres in height, making it suitable for trellis, arches, and containers.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun or partial shade.

• Flower colour lasts longer when protected from strong midday sun.

• Prefers fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.

• Improve soil with compost or well-rotted manure before planting.

• Avoid heavy or waterlogged conditions.

• Dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball and slightly deeper.

• Plant 5–8 cm deeper than it was in the pot to encourage strong root growth.

• Angle towards its support structure when planting.

• Provide sturdy support such as trellis, wires, or obelisks.

Clematis performs best with cool roots and sun on the upper growth.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots.

• Keep soil evenly moist during dry spells.

• Once established, plants are moderately drought tolerant.

• Feed in early spring with a balanced fertiliser to support strong flowering.

• Apply compost annually to improve soil fertility.

Pruning, Maintenance & General Care

• Belongs to Pruning Group 2.

• In late winter or early spring, remove dead or weak stems and lightly shape the plant.

• After the first flush of flowers, trim back lightly to encourage repeat blooming.

• Avoid heavy pruning, as early flowers form on the previous year’s growth.

• Tie in new shoots to supports as they develop.

• Mulch annually to conserve moisture and keep roots cool.

• Generally hardy and low maintenance once established.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
