Planting & Positioning

• Clematis ‘Snow Queen’ is a large-flowered deciduous climber producing elegant pure white blooms with prominent dark stamens.

• Flowers appear in late spring to early summer, often followed by a lighter second flush in late summer.

• Best planted in full sun or light partial shade.

• Keep the roots cool and shaded while allowing the upper growth to reach sunlight.

• Ideal for trellis, fences, arches, obelisks, or growing through shrubs and climbing roses.

• Prefers fertile, moist but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.

• Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and slightly deeper than the pot.

• Plant with the crown set 5–8 cm below soil level to encourage strong shoots and reduce the risk of clematis wilt.

• Backfill with compost-enriched soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.

• Apply a mulch around the base to retain moisture and protect the root zone.

This variety brings brightness and contrast to garden structures and mixed borders.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system.

• Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

• During prolonged dry spells, water deeply to ensure moisture reaches the roots.

• Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser.

• Apply a high-potash fertiliser in late spring to encourage abundant flowering.

• Avoid excessive nitrogen-rich feeds, which may encourage foliage growth over blooms.

• Deadhead spent flowers after the first flush to encourage a second flowering period.

• Container-grown plants require more frequent watering and feeding.

Regular feeding and consistent moisture will help maintain strong growth and clear white blooms.

Pruning, Maintenance & Care

• Clematis ‘Snow Queen’ belongs to pruning Group 2.

• Prune lightly in late winter or early spring before active growth begins.

• Remove dead, weak, or damaged stems first.

• Cut back remaining stems to a strong pair of buds, typically 30–60 cm from the base.

• After the first flush of flowers, lightly trim to encourage repeat blooming.

• Tie in new shoots as they grow to keep the plant well supported.

• Protect young plants from severe frost during their first winter if necessary.

• Ensure good air circulation to reduce the risk of fungal problems.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
