Overview & Features

• Lonicera henryi is a vigorous, evergreen to semi-evergreen climbing honeysuckle.

• Produces slender, tubular flowers in shades of yellow flushed with red or copper during summer.

• Flowers are lightly fragrant and attractive to bees and other pollinators.

• May be followed by small dark purple to black berries in autumn.

• Features glossy, dark green leaves that provide dense year-round cover in mild climates.

• Can reach 4–6 metres in height when mature.

• Ideal for covering walls, fences, pergolas, and arches.

• Excellent for screening and adding vertical interest to the garden.

This species is valued for its strong climbing habit and reliable evergreen foliage.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun or partial shade.

• Performs well when the top growth is in sun and the roots are kept cool.

• Prefers fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.

• Improve soil with compost or well-rotted manure before planting.

• Avoid very dry or waterlogged conditions.

• Dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball and the same depth.

• Position slightly angled towards a support structure.

• Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly after planting.

• Provide strong support such as trellis, wires, or fencing.

Lonicera henryi thrives in sheltered positions protected from strong winds.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish strong roots.

• Keep soil evenly moist during prolonged dry spells.

• Once established, plants are moderately drought tolerant.

• Feed in early spring with a balanced fertiliser to support vigorous growth.

• Apply compost annually to maintain soil fertility.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
