About Prunus incisa 'Kojo-no-mai'
Prunus incisa 'Kojo-no-mai', commonly known as the Fuji Cherry, is a charming, compact deciduous ornamental tree renowned for its distinctive zigzag branches and spectacular display of delicate pale pink flowers in early spring. The unusual branching structure provides year-round architectural interest, while the fresh green foliage turns brilliant shades of orange, red and gold in autumn.
Growing to approximately 2–3 metres tall with a similar spread, 'Kojo-no-mai' is an excellent choice for smaller gardens, patios and containers. Its compact size and elegant form make it a standout specimen, while its spring flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.
Planting Guide
- Plant in full sun or partial shade.
- Prefers fertile, moist but well-drained soil.
- Suitable for loam, clay or sandy soils, provided drainage is good.
- Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
- Position the tree so the top of the root ball sits level with the surrounding soil.
- Backfill with soil mixed with organic matter, firm gently and water thoroughly.
- Apply a mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the trunk.
- Allow 2–3 metres of space for the tree to develop its natural shape.
Care & Maintenance
Prunus 'Kojo-no-mai' is an easy-to-grow ornamental tree with minimal maintenance requirements.
- Water regularly during the first growing season.
- Once established, water during prolonged dry spells.
- Feed each spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.

Live Plants Delivery
Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
