Description

Introduction

The flowers are particularly eye-catching. ‘Boscobel’ opens from deep coral-pink buds into large, perfectly formed rosettes packed with neatly arranged petals. Each bloom displays a sophisticated blend of salmon, coral, and soft pink hues, creating a warm, glowing effect that stands out beautifully against the plant’s glossy dark foliage. As the flowers develop, their colouring shifts subtly, giving the plant continuous visual interest throughout the blooming period.

One of the defining qualities of this rose is its powerful fragrance. The scent is described as a luxurious myrrh perfume with fruitier undertones—rich, warm, and memorable. It makes Rosa ‘Boscobel’ a wonderful choice for planting near paths, patios, doorways, or seating areas where the fragrance can be enjoyed up close. Its combination of colour, scent, and shape makes it an ideal rose for sensory gardens and romantic planting schemes.

In growth habit, ‘Boscobel’ forms a well-rounded, upright shrub typically reaching around 1.2m tall. Its strong, healthy stems hold the blooms proudly, preventing the drooping often seen in large-flowered varieties. Gardeners value its excellent disease resistance and vigorous performance, which make it a reliable addition to modern gardens. Like many David Austin roses, it flowers repeatedly from early summer through to autumn, ensuring months of continuous colour.

‘Boscobel’ works beautifully in various garden styles. In a cottage garden, it blends effortlessly with perennials such as lavender, catmint, foxgloves, and salvias. In more contemporary settings, it provides a vibrant pop of colour among structured planting. Its strength and upright form also make it a superb choice for adding height and depth to rose borders or mixed beds.

Feeding:

  • Feed in early spring with a rose fertiliser.

  • Feed again after the first flush of bloom to encourage repeat flowering.
