Planting & Positioning

• Rosa ‘Precious Ruby’ is a compact floribunda rose producing clusters of rich ruby-red blooms with a long flowering season.

• Best planted in full sun, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for strong growth and repeat flowering.

• Will tolerate light partial shade, though flowering may be less prolific.

• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.

• Avoid areas prone to waterlogging, especially during winter.

• Dig a hole wide enough to comfortably spread the roots and deep enough so the graft union (the swollen join on the main stem) sits just below soil level.

• Incorporate well-rotted compost or manure into the planting soil.

• Firm gently around the base and water thoroughly after planting.

• Space plants well apart to allow good air circulation and reduce disease risk.

• Apply a mulch around the base in spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it clear of the stem.

This variety is ideal for borders, rose beds, patio containers, or adding vibrant colour to smaller gardens.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish strong roots.

• Once established, water deeply during prolonged dry spells, especially in warm summer weather.

• Always water at the base of the plant to keep foliage dry and discourage fungal disease.

• Feed in early spring with a specialist rose fertiliser to encourage healthy new growth.

• Apply a second feed in early summer to support repeat flowering.

• For container-grown plants, feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season.

• Deadhead spent blooms regularly by cutting back to the first set of strong leaves to encourage further flushes.

• Avoid high-nitrogen feeds that may produce excessive leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

Rosa ‘Precious Ruby’ typically flowers from early summer through to autumn, providing repeated waves of bold, eye-catching colour.

Pruning, Maintenance & Health

• Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant.

• Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing stems first.

• Cut back remaining healthy stems to an outward-facing bud, reducing the overall height by around one-third to one-half.

• Aim to create an open centre to allow good airflow.

• Remove weak or spindly shoots during the growing season.

• Clear fallen leaves in autumn to help prevent black spot and other fungal diseases.

• Monitor for common rose pests such as aphids and treat promptly if necessary.

• Apply a layer of mulch in late autumn in colder areas to help protect the roots from severe frost.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
