Planting & Positioning
-
Rosa ‘Redova Courtyard’ is a compact patio or courtyard rose producing clusters of rich red blooms over a long flowering season.
-
Ideal for small gardens, borders, patio containers, and courtyard planting schemes.
-
Plant in full sun for the best flowering performance, aiming for at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
-
Will tolerate light partial shade, though flowering may be slightly reduced.
-
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
-
Avoid sites that remain waterlogged, particularly during winter.
-
Dig a hole wide enough to comfortably spread the roots and deep enough so the graft union (swollen join on the stem) sits just below soil level.
-
Mix well-rotted compost or manure into the backfill soil before planting.
-
Firm gently around the base and water thoroughly after planting.
-
Apply a mulch in spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it clear of the main stem.
This compact variety is particularly suited to decorative containers near entrances, patios, or seating areas.
Watering, Feeding & Flowering
-
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system.
-
Once established, water deeply during prolonged dry spells, especially in summer.
-
Container-grown plants require more frequent watering and should never be allowed to dry out completely.
-
Always water at the base of the plant to reduce the risk of fungal disease.
-
Feed in early spring with a specialist rose fertiliser to encourage healthy growth.
-
Apply a second feed in early summer to support repeat flowering.
-
Deadhead spent blooms regularly by cutting back to a strong set of leaves to promote continuous flowering.
-
Avoid excessive nitrogen-rich fertilisers, which may encourage foliage at the expense of blooms.
Rosa ‘Redova Courtyard’ typically flowers from early summer through to autumn, providing repeated flushes of bold colour.
Pruning, Maintenance & Health
-
Prune in late winter or early spring while the plant is dormant.
-
Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing stems first.
-
Cut back remaining healthy stems by approximately one-third to one-half, shaping the plant to maintain a neat, compact form.
-
Aim to keep the centre open to allow good air circulation.
-
Remove weak or spindly growth during the growing season.
-
Clear fallen leaves in autumn to help prevent disease such as black spot.
-
Monitor for common rose pests such as aphids and treat promptly if needed.
-
In colder areas, apply a protective mulch around the base in late autumn to help protect roots from severe frost.
With full sun, regular feeding, and annual pruning, Rosa ‘Redova Courtyard’ will provide vibrant red blooms and healthy foliage, making it a reliable and colourful feature in small garden spaces.
