Light & Positioning

• Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’, commonly known as Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, is a hardy, architectural indoor plant with upright green leaves edged in golden yellow.

• Thrives in bright, indirect light but is highly adaptable to lower light conditions.

• Can tolerate some direct sun, though prolonged intense sunlight may cause leaf scorch.

• Ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, and hallways due to its tolerance of varied lighting.

• Rotate occasionally to encourage even growth if positioned near a window.

• Prefers average room temperatures between 15–27°C.

• Avoid exposure to temperatures below 10°C.

• Keep away from cold draughts and sudden temperature fluctuations.

Sansevieria is one of the most forgiving houseplants, making it ideal for beginners or busy households.

Watering & Feeding

• Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings.

• Water sparingly, as this plant stores moisture in its thick leaves and is highly drought tolerant.

• During spring and summer, water approximately every 2–3 weeks, depending on light and room temperature.

• In autumn and winter, reduce watering significantly, often to once a month or less.

• Always ensure excess water drains away and never allow the pot to sit in standing water.

• Overwatering is the most common cause of problems and may result in soft, yellowing leaves or root rot.

• If unsure, it is safer to underwater than overwater.

• Feed lightly once a month during the growing season with a diluted houseplant fertiliser.

• Do not feed during winter when growth slows.

Use a free-draining, peat-free houseplant or cactus compost to help prevent excess moisture retention.

Repotting, Maintenance & General Care

• Repot every 2–3 years or when roots become crowded.

• Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one, as Sansevieria prefers to be slightly root-bound.

• Ensure the container has good drainage holes.

• Wipe leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain their glossy appearance.

• Remove any damaged or yellowing leaves at the base using clean, sharp scissors.

• Sansevieria can be propagated by division when repotting or by leaf cuttings.

• Check occasionally for pests such as mealybugs or spider mites, though problems are uncommon.

• Avoid overhandling or bending leaves, as creases are permanent.

With minimal watering and basic care, Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’ is a long-lasting, low-maintenance indoor plant that adds bold structure and colour contrast to any interior space

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
