Overview & Features

• Arabis caucasica ‘Deep Rose’ is a low-growing, evergreen perennial producing vibrant deep rose-pink flowers in early to mid-spring.

• Forms dense mats of grey-green foliage that provide attractive year-round ground cover.

• Typically reaches 15–20 cm in height, spreading gradually to create a carpet effect.

• Ideal for rockeries, gravel gardens, raised beds, edging pathways, and cascading over walls.

• Provides valuable early-season colour when many other plants are just emerging.

• Attractive to bees and other early pollinators.

• Excellent for combining with spring bulbs such as tulips and narcissus.

This variety is valued for its bold spring colour and compact, spreading habit.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering performance.

• Tolerates light partial shade, though flowering may be slightly reduced.

• Prefers well-drained soil and does not tolerate prolonged winter wet.

• Performs well in sandy, gravelly, or moderately fertile soils.

• Improve heavy soils with grit to enhance drainage.

• Dig a hole slightly wider and the same depth as the pot.

• Position the plant so the top of the root ball sits level with the soil surface.

• Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly after planting.

• Space plants 25–30 cm apart to allow room for spreading.

Arabis thrives in sunny, open areas with excellent drainage.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots.

• Once established, plants are drought tolerant and require minimal watering.

• Avoid overwatering, particularly during winter.

• Feed lightly in early spring with a balanced fertiliser if soil fertility is low.

• Avoid excessive feeding, which may result in more foliage and fewer flowers.

• Flowering typically occurs in early to mid-spring, creating a dense display of deep rose blooms.

• Deadheading is optional but can help maintain a neat appearance.

Full sun and good drainage ensure reliable flowering each year.

Pruning, Maintenance & General Care

• Lightly trim back after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage fresh growth.

• Remove any dead or damaged stems as needed.

• Avoid cutting back into old woody growth where possible.

• Divide clumps every few years if they become woody or overcrowded.

• Apply a light gravel mulch to improve drainage and keep foliage dry.

• Generally low maintenance and pest resistant in suitable conditions.

• Evergreen foliage may persist through winter in milder climates.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
