Care & Maintenance

-
Watering:
-
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Use rainwater where possible, as tap water may be too alkaline.
-
Container plants dry out quickly—check regularly, especially in sunny or windy conditions.
-
-
Feeding:
-
Apply an ericaceous liquid feed every 2–3 weeks during the flowering season.
-
-
Pruning:
-
Lightly trim spent flower stems after blooming to keep a neat shape.
-
Avoid cutting into old woody stems, as these may not regenerate.
-
-
Mulching:
-
Apply a mulch of ericaceous compost, leaf mould, or pine needles in spring to retain moisture and maintain acidity.
-
-
Hardiness:
-
Hardy in mild climates but can be vulnerable to severe frost.
-
Protect container plants in prolonged cold with fleece or by moving them to a sheltered spot.
-
-
Pests & diseases:
-
Generally trouble-free but may suffer from root rot in poorly drained soils.
-
