Fuchsia × ‘Blue Sarah’ is a striking, large-flowered fuchsia hybrid admired for its vivid bicolour blooms, vigorous growth, and long flowering season. It produces eye-catching double flowers with bright pink-red sepals and a rich, blue-purple corolla, giving it a jewel-toned appearance that stands out in any container or border display.

'Blue Sarah' is typically grown as a half-hardy perennial, suited for containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, or sheltered borders in milder climates. It features an upright to semi-trailing habit, often reaching 40–60 cm in height and spreading up to 60 cm or more, making it ideal for cascading arrangements or feature displays on patios.

This fuchsia blooms from late spring through to the first frost, with continuous flowers when deadheaded and fed regularly. Its bold colour palette and free-flowering habit make it a favourite for seasonal containers, balcony gardens, and colourful summer borders.

• Light Requirements:

  • Prefers partial shade or bright indirect light

  • Will tolerate morning sun, but protect from strong afternoon sun in summer

  • Ideal for north-, east-, or dappled shade-facing areas

• Soil Preferences:

  • Needs moist but well-drained soil rich in organic matter

  • Use peat-free multipurpose compost with added perlite or grit for pots

  • Mulch borders to retain moisture in hot weather

• Watering Needs:

  • Keep soil evenly moist, especially in hot or windy conditions

  • Water container plants daily during peak summer, avoiding waterlogging

  • Never allow compost to fully dry out

• Feeding:

  • Feed with a high-potash liquid fertiliser every 1–2 weeks during flowering

  • Slow-release fertilisers can also be used at planting time for steady growth

• Pruning and Maintenance:

  • Pinch back tips early in the season to encourage bushy growth

  • Deadhead spent blooms regularly to promote continual flowering

  • At the end of the season, cut back to 10–15 cm if overwintering indoors

• Winter Care:

  • Classified as half-hardy—protect from frost

  • In colder regions, grow in pots that can be moved to a frost-free environment

  • Store overwintered plants in cool, dry conditions (~5–10°C) with minimal watering

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
