About Heuchera 'Marmalade'®

Heuchera 'Marmalade'®, commonly known as Coral Bells, is a stunning evergreen perennial renowned for its richly coloured, ruffled foliage. The large, deeply lobed leaves emerge in vibrant shades of amber, copper and orange, maturing to rich caramel and cinnamon tones with attractive pink-purple undersides. This ever-changing foliage provides exceptional year-round colour and texture.

From late spring through summer, slender stems rise above the foliage carrying delicate creamy-white flowers, which are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Growing to approximately 30–40cm tall (up to 50–60cm in flower) with a spread of 40–50cm, 'Marmalade'® forms a dense, rounded mound that is ideal for borders, containers and woodland gardens.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun or partial shade.
• Partial shade is recommended in warmer locations to preserve the best foliage colour.
• Prefers fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.
• Suitable for loam, sandy and clay soils with good drainage.
• Improve poor soils by incorporating compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Position the crown level with the surrounding soil.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a light mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown.
• Space plants approximately 40–50cm apart.

Care & Maintenance

Heuchera 'Marmalade'® is a hardy, easy-care perennial.

• Water regularly during the first growing season.
• Once established, water during prolonged dry spells.
• Feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
• Apply fresh mulch annually to retain moisture and improve soil fertility.
• Remove weeds from around the plant.
• Water container-grown plants regularly during warm weather.
• Avoid prolonged waterlogging.

Pruning

Very little pruning is required.

• Remove faded flower stems after flowering.
• Cut away damaged or old leaves in late winter or early spring.
• Remove dead foliage as required throughout the year.
• Divide mature clumps every 3–4 years in spring or autumn to maintain vigour.
• Avoid covering the crown with mulch or soil.

• Root rot may occur in poorly drained soils.
• Vine weevil can occasionally affect container-grown plants.
• Powdery mildew may develop during prolonged dry weather with poor air circulation.
• Older plants may become woody and benefit from division every few years.
• Planting in well-drained soil and removing old foliage in spring will help maintain healthy, vigorous growth.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
