    Fragrant Purple Blooms:

    • 'Munstead' Lavender is renowned for its aromatic, lavender-blue to purple flower spikes that release a soothing and delightful fragrance when brushed against or crushed.
    • The fragrant blooms are not only visually appealing but also attract pollinators, making it an excellent choice for a pollinator-friendly garden.

    Compact Growth:

    Gray-Green Foliage:

    • The narrow, linear leaves of 'Munstead' Lavender are gray-green and have a silvery appearance, providing an attractive backdrop for the vibrant purple blooms.
    • The evergreen foliage retains its color and structure throughout the year, ensuring year-round visual appeal.

    Drought Tolerance:

    • Lavandula angustifolia varieties, including 'Munstead,' are known for their exceptional drought tolerance once established, making them a low-maintenance choice for gardeners.

    Versatile Use:

    • 'Munstead' Lavender is well-suited for a wide range of garden applications, including herb gardens, perennial borders, rock gardens, and even as a fragrant addition to container gardens.

    Maintenance Tips

Caring for Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead' is relatively straightforward, and with proper attention, it can thrive and continue to showcase its fragrant blooms. Here are some essential maintenance guidelines:

    Planting:

    • Location: Plant 'Munstead' Lavender in well-drained soil and provide a sunny location with at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
    • Spacing: When planting multiple 'Munstead' specimens, space them approximately 12 to 18 inches apart to allow for their mature spread.

    Watering:

    • Establishment: Water newly planted 'Munstead' Lavender regularly to ensure the root system establishes itself. Once established, water sparingly as Lavandula angustifolia prefers slightly dry conditions.
    • Avoid Overwatering: Ensure that the soil has good drainage to prevent waterlogged roots, which can lead to root rot.

    Pruning:

    • Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flower spikes to encourage the plant to produce more blooms and maintain a tidy appearance.
    • Annual Pruning: In late winter or early spring, lightly prune 'Munstead' Lavender to shape the plant and remove any dead or woody growth.

    Fertilizing:

    • Minimal Fertilization: Lavender typically does not require heavy feeding. You can apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer sparingly in early spring if necessary.

    Protection:

    • Winter Care: In colder climates, provide a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to protect the roots during winter. Avoid excessive moisture during the colder months.
