Grab some Tickets to the RHSI Bicentenary Gala

There’s just time to grab tickets for the Royal Horticultural Society, Ireland’s Bicentenary Gala celebration taking place in Dublin on 30 September.

RHSI Bicentenary Gala Celebration

The occasion promises to be a glitzy celebration of 200 years of gardening in Ireland, with floral art demonstrations by Chelsea gold medal winning florist Jenny Murphy and guest lectures by legendary designer Dan Hinkley and plantsman Roy Lancaster. In the evening, TV gardener Monty Don takes the stage. Throughout the day at the Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge, you can buy unusual and rare garden plants and sundries from trade stands.

The event is the culmination of a year’s worth of celebrations including special garden openings, study days and lectures to mark 200 years since the Society was formed in 1816 by a group of gardeners in a Dublin pub. Since then it’s gone from strength to strength and now includes over 1000 members and more than 90 affiliated horticultural, gardening and floral art societies and clubs. Five years ago it also acquired its first garden, a three-and- a-half acre 18 th century walled garden at Russborough in Co. Wicklow run entirely by volunteers.
