About the Pollinator Planter Kit

The Pollinator Planter Kit – Tulip & Muscari Purple is a coordinated collection of 15 spring-flowering bulbs designed to create a rich purple-themed display while providing valuable flowers for bees and other spring pollinators.

The combination of taller purple Tulips with compact Muscari (Grape Hyacinths) creates an attractive two-level effect. Planting Guide

• Plant in autumn, ideally from September to December.
• Choose a position in full sun or light partial shade.
• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil or compost.
• Avoid permanently waterlogged conditions.
• Plant Tulip bulbs approximately 10–15cm deep.
• Plant Muscari bulbs approximately 5–8cm deep.
• Position bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
• Plant the bulbs in groups for maximum impact.
• Water thoroughly after planting.

Planting in a Container

This kit is perfect for layer or “bulb lasagne” planting.

• Choose a reasonably deep container with good drainage holes.
• Add a layer of free-draining multipurpose compost.
• Position the Tulip bulbs in the lower layer.
• Cover them with approximately 5cm of compost.
• Position the Muscari bulbs in the upper layer.
• Stagger the bulbs so they are not directly above one another.
• Bulbs can be planted fairly close together but should not touch.
• Cover with compost and water thoroughly.
• Keep the container outdoors throughout winter.

The Muscari will emerge around the taller Tulips, producing an attractive layered spring display.

Care & Maintenance

Very little maintenance is required once the bulbs are planted.

• Keep the compost lightly moist during prolonged dry periods.
• Water more regularly once active spring growth begins.
• Never allow containers to remain permanently standing in water.
• A high-potash feed can be applied as the foliage develops.
• Deadhead Tulips once their flowers have faded.
• Muscari flower heads can also be removed if you wish to prevent self-seeding.
• Leave all healthy foliage in place after flowering.
