Description and Characteristics
Agapanthus 'Navy Blue', also known as African Lily 'Navy Blue', is a striking herbaceous perennial prized for its deep, vivid blue flowers and long, elegant stems that provide vertical interest and a splash of bold colour from mid- to late summer. Each plant forms a dense clump of strap-like, glossy green foliage, from which emerge tall scapes topped with rounded clusters (umbels) of trumpet-shaped flowers.
Reaching up to 80–100 cm in height when in bloom and spreading 40–60 cm, ‘Navy Blue’ is a mid- to tall-sized agapanthus ideal for mixed borders, containers, and coastal gardens. Its intense blue hue makes it a garden standout, pairing beautifully with both warm and cool colour palettes. It is also a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly designs.
