Description and Characteristics

Alstroemeria Colorita® 'Fabiana' is a compact, vibrant variety of Peruvian lily from the Colorita® series—bred specifically for extended flowering, controlled growth, and strong garden performance in small spaces. ‘Fabiana’ features clusters of deep pink to fuchsia blooms, each with a contrasting white throat streaked with fine dark markings, giving the plant an exotic and eye-catching appeal throughout the summer months.

This cultivar forms a neat, bushy mound reaching approximately 25–35 cm in height and 30–40 cm in spread, making it ideal for containers, edging, patios, balconies, and small mixed borders. Blooming from late spring until the first autumn frost, 'Fabiana' is a reliable performer that also works beautifully as a cut flower, with a vase life of up to two weeks.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Alstroemeria Colorita® 'Fabiana' thrives in sunny conditions with regular moisture and good drainage. It is easy to grow, low maintenance, and perfect for gardeners of all experience levels.

• Light Requirements:

  • Grows best in full sun to partial shade

  • Light afternoon shade is beneficial in hot climates to preserve bloom quality

• Soil Preferences:

  • Requires well-drained, fertile soil

  • Performs best in neutral to slightly acidic soil with added compost or organic matter

  • Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged soil, which can lead to tuber rot

• Watering Needs:

  • Water regularly during the growing season to maintain even soil moisture

  • Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry slightly between waterings

  • In containers, ensure good drainage to prevent soggy conditions

• Feeding and Fertilising:

  • Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring

  • Supplement with a liquid fertiliser every 3–4 weeks for maximum flowering

  • Avoid overfeeding with nitrogen-heavy fertilisers, which may reduce bloom count

• Deadheading and Pruning:

  • Pull (don’t cut) spent flower stems at the base to encourage fresh blooms

  • Remove any yellowing or damaged foliage as needed

  • In autumn, trim back top growth and apply mulch for winter protection

• Winter Protection:

  • In milder climates, apply a thick mulch in late autumn to protect roots from frost

  • In colder zones, lift and store tubers in a dry, frost-free area over winter

  • Container-grown plants can be overwintered in an unheated greenhouse or sheltered porch

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
