Alstroemeria Colorita® 'Louise' is a compact, long-flowering variety from the Colorita® series, specially bred for superb performance in containers and small gardens. It boasts stunning lavender-pink to soft violet petals with a striking yellow throat and delicate purple streaks, creating a dramatic contrast against the lush green foliage.

'Louise' is valued for its continuous blooming from late spring to early autumn, and its neat, bushy growth habit, which makes it an excellent choice for patios, balconies, and borders. Like other Colorita® varieties, it has a high flower count, good hardiness for the genus, and is ideal for cutting.

Soil Preferences

• Grows best in moist, well-drained, fertile soil

• Tolerates light loam, sandy, or slightly clayey soils with added organic matter

• Ensure good drainage, especially in winter

Planting Advice

• Plant in spring after frost or early summer

• Space plants 30–40 cm apart in the ground

• Use a peat-free, loam-based compost with added grit for pots

• Mulch lightly in spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds

Care, Feeding, and Seasonal Maintenance

Watering

• Water regularly during the growing season, especially during dry spells

• Avoid letting the soil dry out entirely but do not allow roots to sit in water

• Container-grown plants may need more frequent watering

Feeding

• Feed every 2–3 weeks during flowering with a high-potassium fertiliser

• Alternatively, apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring for season-long nutrition

Deadheading and Pruning

• Remove spent flowers by gently pulling stems from the base (not cutting) to encourage repeat flowering

• In late autumn, cut back foliage to 5–10 cm above ground if it becomes untidy

• Clear away dead material in early spring

Winter Protection and Longevity

• In mild areas, mulch in autumn and plants may remain semi-evergreen

• In cold climates, provide extra protection with a thick mulch or grow in pots that can be sheltered

• Container plants can be moved to a frost-free porch or greenhouse for overwintering

• Divide clumps every 3–4 years in spring to maintain vigour

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
