Description and Characteristics

Arctotis ‘Hannah’® is a dazzling tender perennial or seasonal bedding plant, prized for its large, luminous daisy-like flowers and silvery foliage. Part of the Arctotis hybrid group, ‘Hannah’® delivers bold, exotic colour and is ideal for containers, borders, and hot, sunny positions. The flowers are vibrant orange to tangerine with a warm, golden centre, opening fully in direct sunlight and adding dramatic impact from late spring through early autumn.

The plant forms a compact, spreading mound of soft, lobed, silvery-grey leaves that create a beautiful contrast to the glowing blooms. Arctotis ‘Hannah’® is especially valuable for its long flowering season, heat tolerance, and low water needs—making it an excellent choice for Mediterranean, coastal, and wildlife-friendly gardens.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

• Light Requirements:

  • Requires full sun to bloom well

  • Flowers will close during cloudy or low-light conditions

• Soil Preferences:

  • Prefers sandy or loamy soil with excellent drainage

  • Performs best in poor to moderately fertile soil

  • Avoid wet or heavy clay soils; add grit to improve drainage

• Watering Needs:

  • Water regularly to establish, then reduce frequency

  • Once established, it is drought-tolerant and dislikes overwatering

  • In containers, allow soil to dry between waterings

• Feeding:

  • Feed every 2–3 weeks with a balanced or low-nitrogen fertiliser during the growing season

  • Too much feeding may encourage leafiness at the expense of flowers

• Deadheading and Pruning:

  • Deadhead spent flowers regularly to extend the blooming period

  • Cut back any leggy or spent growth mid-season to encourage fresh flowering

  • In mild climates, light trimming in late autumn may keep the plant tidy

• Winter Care:

  • Frost-tender (RHS H2) – treat as an annual in cold climates

  • In mild, frost-free regions, plants may overwinter if kept dry

  • Container-grown plants can be moved to a frost-free greenhouse or porch over winter

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
