About Buddleja 'Summer Lounge'® White (White Swan)

Buddleja 'Summer Lounge'® White (White Swan) is a compact, free-flowering butterfly bush that produces masses of elegant pure white flower spikes from early summer through to autumn. Its neat, rounded habit makes it ideal for smaller gardens, patios and containers while still providing the long flowering season and pollinator-friendly qualities that Buddlejas are famous for.

Unlike larger traditional Buddlejas, the Summer Lounge® series has been bred to remain compact, typically reaching 60–90cm in height with a similar spread. Its fragrant flowers are rich in nectar, attracting butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects throughout the summer. The attractive grey-green foliage provides a beautiful backdrop to the crisp white blooms, making this variety an excellent choice for modern gardens.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering performance.
• Choose a sheltered position with good air circulation.
• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil.
• Suitable for loam, sandy and chalky soils.
• Improve heavy soils with compost and horticultural grit before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its pot and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the root ball level with the surrounding soil.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a 5–8cm layer of organic mulch around the base, keeping it away from the stems.
• Space plants approximately 70–90cm apart.

Buddleja 'Summer Lounge'® White is easy to grow and flowers continuously with minimal care.

• Water regularly during the first growing season.
• Once established, water during prolonged dry periods.
• Allow the soil surface to dry slightly between watering.
• Feed in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
• Avoid excessive feeding, as this may encourage leafy growth instead of flowers.
• Refresh mulch each spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
• Remove weeds regularly from around the base.
• Deadhead faded flower spikes to encourage continuous blooming.
• Water container-grown plants more frequently during warm weather.

Pruning

Annual pruning encourages vigorous new growth and abundant flowers.

• Prune in early spring before new growth begins.
• Cut stems back to approximately 20–30cm above ground level.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
