Description and Characteristics

Zantedeschia 'Crystal Blush', commonly known as Calla Lily 'Crystal Blush', is a refined and elegant variety of the calla lily, beloved for its pure white flowers that gradually take on a delicate blush of soft pink at the base as they mature. Its trumpet-shaped blooms are supported by sturdy stems above upright, arrow-shaped green foliage that may be subtly speckled.

A moderately compact cultivar, 'Crystal Blush' grows to about 45–60 cm in height and 30–40 cm in spread, making it ideal for containers, garden borders, and cutting gardens. This variety typically blooms from early summer into late summer (June to August) and makes a long-lasting cut flower, prized for bridal arrangements and soft-toned summer displays.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Calla 'Crystal Blush' is easy to care for and thrives in sunny, sheltered locations with well-drained, moisture-retentive soil. With regular feeding and consistent moisture, it rewards with a long season of elegant blooms.

• Light Requirements:

  • Prefers full sun, but tolerates partial shade, especially in hotter climates

  • Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal in regions with intense heat

• Soil Preferences:

  • Needs well-drained, rich, and moist soil

  • Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0) is preferred

  • Amend soil with compost or organic matter before planting

• Watering Needs:

  • Water regularly, especially during dry periods

  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy during the growing season

  • Reduce watering after flowering ends and foliage begins to yellow

• Fertilising:

  • Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–3 weeks from spring to mid-summer

  • Stop fertilising as plants enter dormancy to allow tubers to rest

• Deadheading and Pruning:

  • Remove faded flowers to maintain plant appearance and encourage additional blooming

  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally after the season ends—this helps store energy in the tubers for the following year

• Winter Care:

  • Not frost-hardy—tubers must be protected in Zones 7 and colder

  • In colder areas, lift tubers in autumn after foliage has died down

  • Dry for a few days, then store in dry peat or sawdust in a cool, frost-free place (5–10°C)

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
