CISTUS CORBARIENSIS

Overview & Features

• Cistus × corbariensis is a compact, evergreen rock rose valued for its masses of pure white flowers.

• Produces crinkled white blooms with bright yellow centres from late spring into early summer.

• Flowers open freely in sunny weather and are produced in abundance.

• Features small, dark green, slightly sticky aromatic leaves.

• Forms a low, spreading mound with a dense growth habit.

• Typically grows 60–90 cm in height and up to 1 metre in spread.

• Ideal for Mediterranean-style gardens, gravel beds, slopes, and coastal planting.

• Attractive to bees and pollinators.

This variety is prized for its neat habit and generous spring flowering.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun for best flowering performance.

• Requires well-drained soil and dislikes heavy, wet conditions.

• Thrives in sandy, gravelly, or moderately poor soils.

• Avoid rich or overly fertile soil, which can reduce flowering.

• Not suitable for areas prone to winter waterlogging.

• Dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball and the same depth.

• Plant at the same depth as it was in the container and firm gently.

• Suitable for coastal and sheltered exposed locations with good drainage.

Cistus performs best in warm, sunny, free-draining positions.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots.

• Once established, plants are highly drought tolerant.

• Avoid overwatering, especially in winter.

• Feed lightly in spring only if soil is very poor.

• Excess fertiliser can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

• Flowering typically occurs from late spring into early summer.

• Full sun encourages the heaviest bloom production.

Sharp drainage and strong sunlight are key to healthy growth.

Pruning, Maintenance & General Care

• Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a compact, rounded shape.

• Avoid cutting back into old woody stems, as regrowth can be poor.

• Remove any dead or damaged growth as needed.

• Mulch lightly with gravel to improve drainage around the base.

• Protect from prolonged winter wet and severe frost in colder areas.

• Generally low maintenance once established in suitable conditions.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
