Planting Conditions and Ideal Location

• Light Requirements: Requires full sun to thrive. The more direct sunlight it gets, the more profuse its flowering.

• Soil Preferences: Prefers well-drained soil—sandy, gravelly, or light loam is ideal. Poor, stony soils are suitable, making it perfect for dry gardens.

• pH Range: Tolerates a wide range from slightly acidic to alkaline (pH 6.0–8.0).

• Moisture Needs: Drought-tolerant once established; avoid planting in areas prone to waterlogging.

• Planting Time: Best planted in spring or early autumn, allowing roots to establish before summer heat or winter cold.

• Spacing: Allow 1–1.2 metres between plants for mature spread and airflow.

• Positioning Tips: Ideal for sunny borders, Mediterranean-style gardens, rock gardens, and coastal sites. Works well on slopes or gravel beds where drainage is excellent.

• Shelter Needs: Hardy but benefits from a sheltered position in colder climates to protect from cold winds and heavy frost.

Routine Care, Feeding, and Seasonal Maintenance

• Watering:

  • Water regularly during the first growing season to encourage root development.

  • Once established, only water in extended dry spells.

• Feeding: Apply a light dose of balanced fertilizer in spring to promote healthy foliage and flowering, but avoid overfeeding as this can reduce bloom quality.

• Pruning:

  • Lightly trim immediately after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage fresh growth.

  • Avoid hard pruning into old wood, as this can damage the plant and reduce regrowth.

• Mulching: Use a thin mulch of gravel or grit to improve drainage and keep weeds down—avoid heavy organic mulches that trap moisture around the roots.

• Pest and Disease Resistance: Generally pest-free and resistant to most diseases; may be susceptible to root rot in poorly drained soils.

• Winter Care: Hardy in most of the UK and Ireland; in colder or wetter regions, ensure excellent drainage and consider planting in a raised bed or slope.

• Propagation: Can be propagated from semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.

• Foliage: Grey-green, slightly hairy evergreen leaves provide year-round texture and colour.

All standard deliveries will be completed within 5-7 working days via Fastway Couriers, any delay to this delivery time, the customer will be notified by One of our staff.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
