Crocosmia ‘Carmin Brilliant’ – Fiery Summer Colour with Graceful Arches
The Crocosmia ‘Carmin Brilliant’ is a dazzling perennial known for its fiery blooms and elegant, arching habit. From July to September, sprays of vibrant carmine-red flowers emerge in succession along gently arching stems, bringing a burst of warmth and movement to the garden. These star-shaped flowers rise above sword-like green leaves, creating a striking display that is both colourful and architectural.
Perfect for adding late-summer impact, this variety works beautifully in mixed borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings. Its vivid flowers attract bees, butterflies, and pollinators, while the upright foliage brings structure even when not in bloom. Hardy, reliable, and easy to grow, ‘Carmin Brilliant’ is a perennial favourite for gardeners who want long-lasting summer colour.

Depth & spacing: Plant corms 8–10cm deep and 10–15cm apart.

Watering & Feeding
-
Water well after planting and keep moist during the first growing season.
-
Once established, Crocosmia is fairly drought-tolerant but will perform best with regular watering in dry spells.
-
Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and a high-potash feed in midsummer to encourage flowering.
Pruning & Maintenance
-
Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms and keep plants tidy.
-
Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the corms for next year.
-
Cut back dead leaves in late autumn or early spring.
-
Divide congested clumps every 3–4 years in spring to maintain vigour.
Protection
-
Fully hardy, but in very cold regions, mulch clumps in winter for added protection.

Generally pest- and disease-free, though may be affected by thrips in very dry summers.
