About Dianthus Sunflor® 'Bling Bling'

Dianthus Sunflor® 'Bling Bling', commonly known as Dianthus, Pink or Carnation, is a compact, long-flowering perennial prized for its colourful, fragrant double flowers and neat mound of narrow, grey-green foliage.

Part of the Sunflor® series, 'Bling Bling' has been bred for a compact habit, abundant flowering and excellent performance in containers and garden borders. It flowers repeatedly from late spring through summer, with regular deadheading helping to extend the display well into autumn.

Growing to approximately 20–30cm tall with a spread of around 20–30cm, it is particularly well suited to patio pots, window boxes, rockeries and the front of sunny borders.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering.
• Choose an open position with good air circulation.
• Prefers fertile but well-drained soil.
• Performs particularly well in neutral to slightly alkaline soil.
• Improve heavy soil with horticultural grit to increase drainage.
• Dig a planting hole slightly larger than the root ball.
• Plant at the same depth as it was growing in its container.
• Avoid burying the crown.
• Firm gently and water thoroughly after planting.
• Space plants approximately 20–30cm apart.

Care & Maintenance

Dianthus Sunflor® 'Bling Bling' is relatively easy to maintain.

• Water regularly while newly planted.
• Once established, allow the soil surface to dry slightly between watering.
• Avoid prolonged waterlogging, especially during winter.
• Feed container plants regularly during the flowering season with a suitable flowering-plant fertiliser.
• Garden plants generally require only light feeding in spring.
• Avoid excessive nitrogen fertiliser, which can encourage foliage at the expense of flowers.
• Keep the centre of the plant clear of fallen leaves and debris.

Pruning

Regular deadheading will help maintain continuous flowering.

• Remove individual faded flowers and their stems.
• Deadhead frequently throughout summer to encourage new buds.
• Lightly trim plants after a major flowering flush if they become untidy.
• Remove dead or damaged foliage in early spring.
• Avoid cutting deeply into old woody growth.

• Waterlogging is one of the main causes of plant failure.
• Crown and root rot can occur in persistently wet soil.
• Aphids may occasionally appear on young shoots and flower buds.
• Slugs and snails can sometimes damage fresh growth.
• Plants may become loose or untidy if grown in excessive shade.
• Poor flowering can result from insufficient sunlight or excessive nitrogen feeding.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
