Overview & Features

• Erigeron karvinskianus, commonly known as Mexican Fleabane, is a low-growing, spreading perennial with masses of small daisy-like flowers.

• Blooms continuously from late spring through summer and often into autumn.

• Flowers open white and gradually age to soft pink, creating a two-tone effect.

• Forms loose, airy mounds of small green foliage.

• Typically grows 20–30 cm in height, spreading freely over time.

• Ideal for rockeries, gravel gardens, wall crevices, edging, and containers.

• Excellent for softening paving and cascading over walls.

• Attractive to bees and pollinators.

This plant is valued for its long flowering season and relaxed, informal appearance.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering display.

• Tolerates light partial shade but flowers most heavily in bright conditions.

• Prefers well-drained soil and thrives in sandy or gritty conditions.

• Does not tolerate heavy, waterlogged soils.

• Improve clay soils with grit before planting.

• Dig a hole slightly wider and the same depth as the pot.

• Position the crown level with the soil surface.

• Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly after planting.

• Space plants 30–40 cm apart to allow natural spreading.

Erigeron performs best in sunny, open areas with excellent drainage.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots.

• Once established, plants are drought tolerant and require minimal watering.

• Avoid overwatering, particularly in winter.

• Feed lightly in spring with a balanced fertiliser if soil fertility is low.

• Avoid excessive feeding, as rich soil can reduce flowering.

• Flowering typically begins in late spring and can continue for many months.

• Light trimming during the season can encourage fresh flushes of flowers.

Full sun and free-draining soil encourage the longest flowering period.

Pruning, Maintenance & General Care

• Shear back lightly after the main flush of flowers to promote fresh growth and additional blooms.

• Remove any dead or damaged stems as needed.

• Cut back more firmly in late autumn or early spring if plants become woody.

• Allow some self-seeding for a naturalised effect if desired.

• Generally low maintenance and pest resistant in suitable conditions.

• May benefit from light winter protection in colder regions.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
