About Erigeron 'Sea Breeze'

Erigeron 'Sea Breeze', commonly known as Seaside Fleabane, is a compact, free-flowering perennial valued for its masses of daisy-like blooms and long flowering season. Producing delicate flowers in soft shades of lavender-pink to pale lilac with bright golden-yellow centres, it creates a carpet of colour from late spring until the first frosts.

Growing to approximately 20–30cm tall with a spread of 40–60cm, 'Sea Breeze' forms a low, spreading mound of fresh green foliage. Its compact habit makes it ideal for softening the edges of borders, spilling over walls, filling gaps between paving stones and brightening containers. The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinating insects throughout the growing season.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering display.
• Tolerates light partial shade, although flowering may be less prolific.
• Prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil.
• Suitable for sandy, loamy and chalky soils.
• Improve heavy clay soils by adding horticultural grit and organic matter.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the crown level with the surrounding soil.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a light layer of gravel or organic mulch around the base to help suppress weeds while maintaining good drainage.
• Space plants approximately 35–45cm apart for an attractive ground-cover effect.

Care & Maintenance

Erigeron 'Sea Breeze' is an exceptionally easy-care perennial.

• Water regularly during the first growing season.
• Once established, water only during prolonged dry periods.
• Avoid prolonged waterlogging, especially during winter.
• Feed lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
• Avoid excessive feeding, which may encourage leafy growth with fewer flowers.
• Remove weeds regularly from around the plant.
• Deadhead faded flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming.
• Divide mature clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour and flowering.

Pruning

Very little pruning is required.

• Deadhead regularly throughout the flowering season.
• Lightly shear the plant after the main flush of flowers to encourage fresh growth and repeat blooming.
• Remove any damaged or dead foliage as required.
• Cut back old stems in late autumn or early spring.
• Divide overcrowded plants every few years if necessary.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
