Planting Conditions and Ideal Location

• Light Requirements: Ficus 'Lucky Berry' grows best in bright, indirect light. A few hours of morning or late afternoon sun is beneficial, but avoid harsh midday rays which may scorch the leaves.

• Indoor/Outdoor Placement: Suitable as a houseplant in cooler climates or as a patio/container plant in mild weather. Outdoors, place in a sheltered, semi-shaded position.

• Soil Preferences: Prefers well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. A peat-free indoor plant compost blended with perlite or fine bark is ideal for drainage and aeration.

• Moisture Needs: Requires evenly moist soil but dislikes waterlogging. Ensure pots have drainage holes and empty saucers after watering.

• Temperature Range: Thrives in 15–25°C. Avoid placing near cold draughts, radiators, or sudden temperature fluctuations.

• Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist the leaves occasionally or place the pot on a pebble tray with water for extra moisture in dry indoor air.

Routine Care, Feeding, and Seasonal Maintenance

• Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely for extended periods.

• Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks from spring through summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer. Pause feeding in autumn and winter.

• Pruning: Lightly prune in spring to maintain shape and remove any leggy or damaged stems. Use clean, sharp scissors or secateurs.

• Cleaning Leaves: Wipe leaves with a damp cloth every few weeks to remove dust and maintain healthy photosynthesis.

• Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years in spring, moving to a container one size larger. Refresh the soil annually for nutrients and structure.

• Pest Control: Monitor for scale insects, spider mites, or mealybugs. Treat early with horticultural soap or neem oil. Good air circulation helps prevent infestations.

• Fruiting Note: The 'Lucky Berry' variety produces attractive small berries. While decorative, they are not edible and should be kept away from children and pets.

• Winter Care: Growth slows in cooler months—reduce watering, avoid overfeeding, and keep in a bright, warm spot to prevent leaf drop.

Ornamental Features and Design Use

• Appearance: Compact, bushy plant with glossy, deep green leaves and a neat, rounded habit. Seasonal berries add visual interest and charm.

• Foliage: Evergreen, providing year-round greenery in both indoor and sheltered outdoor spaces.

• Height and Spread: Typically reaches 60–100 cm tall and 50–80 cm wide when grown in containers, making it suitable for tabletops, plant stands, or floor displays.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
