Description and Characteristics

Geranium ‘Rozanne’ is one of the most popular and widely awarded perennial geraniums, prized for its extraordinarily long blooming period, vigorous growth, and vivid violet-blue flowers with a distinctive white centre. A naturally occurring hybrid (Geranium himalayense × Geranium wallichianum 'Buxton’s Variety'), ‘Rozanne’ is ideal for gardeners seeking reliable, low-maintenance colour from early summer until the first frosts.

This spreading, clump-forming perennial produces a profusion of 5 cm wide saucer-shaped blooms that attract pollinators and soften the edges of borders, beds, and containers. It forms mounds of deeply lobed, marbled green foliage that often develops reddish tones in autumn, adding to its year-round interest.

Growing to 40–60 cm in height with a spread of up to 90–100 cm, ‘Rozanne’ is excellent for groundcover, front-of-border planting, and informal drifts in cottage or wildlife gardens.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Geranium 'Rozanne' is undemanding and adaptable, thriving in a wide range of conditions with only minimal care. Once established, it performs beautifully in sunny or lightly shaded locations.

• Light Requirements:

  • Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade, especially in hotter climates

  • Flowering may be slightly reduced in deeper shade, but foliage remains attractive

• Soil Preferences:

  • Grows well in moist, well-drained soil

  • Tolerates loam, chalk, clay, or sandy soils if drainage is adequate

  • pH flexible: acidic to neutral preferred

• Watering Needs:

  • Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system

  • Once established, drought-tolerant, though will perform best with occasional watering in dry periods

• Feeding:

  • Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring

  • Overfeeding is unnecessary and may lead to excessive leafy growth

• Pruning and Deadheading:

  • Shear back midsummer if flowering slows or plant becomes untidy; it will regrow quickly and bloom again

  • No need for regular deadheading—self-cleaning flowers drop naturally

  • Cut back to the ground in late autumn or early spring as new growth begins

• Winter Care:

  • Fully hardy in USDA Zones 5–8 / RHS H7

  • No winter protection needed in most climates

  • Can be divided in spring or autumn to rejuvenate older clumps

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
