Planting Conditions and Ideal Location

• Light Requirements: Prefers full sun to light partial shade. Full sun ensures compact growth and abundant flowering.

• Soil Preferences: Grows best in well-drained soil—light loam, sandy, or gravelly soils are ideal. Avoid heavy clay unless improved with grit or organic matter.

• pH Range: Tolerates slightly acidic to neutral soils (pH 6.0–7.5).

• Moisture Needs: Moderately drought-tolerant once established but prefers consistent moisture during the growing season.

• Planting Time: Best planted in spring or early autumn for root establishment before extremes of summer heat or winter cold.

• Spacing: Allow around 40–50 cm between plants for healthy airflow and growth.

• Positioning Tips: Perfect for borders, mixed planting beds, patio containers, and coastal gardens thanks to its salt-tolerance.

• Shelter Needs: Hardy in most mild UK and Irish climates, but in colder areas, choose a sheltered site protected from frost and harsh winds.

• Container Growing: Excellent for pots—use a peat-free, free-draining compost with added grit for stability.

Routine Care, Feeding, and Seasonal Maintenance

• Watering:

  • Keep evenly moist during the first growing season.

  • Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, especially in containers.

• Feeding: Apply a balanced liquid feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer to encourage strong growth and vibrant blooms.

• Pruning:

  • Lightly trim immediately after flowering to maintain a neat, rounded shape and promote bushy regrowth.

  • Remove any dead, damaged, or straggly stems to keep the plant healthy.

• Mulching: Apply a light mulch of compost or bark in spring to help retain moisture and improve soil condition, keeping mulch away from the base of the stems.

• Pest and Disease Resistance: Generally resistant to pests, but watch for aphids or fungal leaf spots in damp weather—improve airflow to prevent issues.

• Winter Care: Most varieties are frost-hardy in mild winters, but container plants can be moved to a sheltered spot during severe cold.

• Propagation: Can be propagated from semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.

All standard deliveries will be completed within 5-7 working days via Fastway Couriers, any delay to this delivery time, the customer will be notified by One of our staff.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
