Heuchera 'Fire Chief'® – Planting & Care Guide
About Heuchera 'Fire Chief'®
Heuchera 'Fire Chief'®, commonly known as Coral Bells, is a vibrant evergreen perennial prized for its brilliant fiery red foliage that retains its rich colour throughout much of the year. Fresh new leaves emerge bright scarlet before maturing to deep burgundy-red, creating a bold display in borders and containers.
From late spring to late summer, elegant stems of small soft pink to white bell-shaped flowers rise above the foliage, attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Growing to approximately 25–35cm tall (up to 45–60cm in flower) with a spread of 35–45cm, 'Fire Chief'® forms a compact, rounded mound that provides outstanding year-round interest.
Planting Guide
- Plant in full sun or partial shade.
- Partial shade helps maintain the richest foliage colour in warmer locations.
- Prefers fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

- Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
- Position the crown level with the surrounding soil.
- Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
- Apply a light mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown.
