About Heuchera 'Marmalade'

Heuchera 'Marmalade', commonly known as Coral Bells, is a stunning evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial grown primarily for its spectacular foliage. The large, deeply ruffled leaves emerge in vibrant shades of amber, orange and apricot before maturing to rich caramel, cinnamon and copper tones, creating year-round interest in the garden. During late spring and early summer, slender stems carry delicate creamy-white flowers above the colourful foliage, adding extra elegance while attracting pollinating insects.

Growing to approximately 30–45cm tall with flower stems reaching 50–60cm, and spreading 40–50cm, 'Marmalade' forms a neat, rounded mound that is perfect for borders, containers and woodland planting. Its colourful foliage makes it an excellent companion for flowering perennials and shrubs, providing contrast throughout the seasons.

Planting Guide

• Plant in partial shade or full sun.
• In warmer areas, afternoon shade helps maintain the best foliage colour.
• Prefers fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
• Improve poor soils by adding compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the crown slightly above the surrounding soil level to prevent rot.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a 5–8cm layer of organic mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown.
• Space plants approximately 40–50cm apart.

Heuchera 'Marmalade' is a reliable, low-maintenance perennial that performs well in a wide range of gardens.

• Water regularly during the first growing season.
• Once established, water during prolonged dry periods.
• Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging.
• Feed in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
• Refresh mulch annually to improve soil fertility and conserve moisture.
• Remove weeds regularly from around the base.
• Water container-grown plants more frequently during warm weather.
• Lift and replant if the crown becomes exposed over time.
• Divide mature clumps every 3–4 years to maintain healthy growth.

Pruning

Very little pruning is required.

• Remove faded flower stems once flowering has finished.
• Cut away damaged, old or dead leaves throughout the year.
• Tidy the plant in late winter or early spring before fresh growth appears.
• Remove any winter-damaged foliage to encourage new leaves.
• Divide overcrowded plants every few years to rejuvenate growth.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
