Description and Characteristics
Heuchera micrantha 'Palace Purple' is a classic and widely loved evergreen perennial celebrated for its rich, burgundy-purple foliage and soft sprays of tiny white flowers. A recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, this cultivar is one of the most popular Coral Bells, appreciated for its reliable colour, hardiness, and versatility in both shade and sun.
The large, maple-like leaves emerge deep greenish-bronze and mature to a glossy reddish-purple, with colour often intensifying in cooler weather. The contrast of its dark foliage with lighter neighbouring plants makes it an excellent choice for colour-themed gardens, borders, and mixed plantings.
From late spring through midsummer, ‘Palace Purple’ produces tall, slender stems bearing clusters of tiny, creamy-white bell-shaped flowers that rise above the foliage, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
It forms a compact clump, typically reaching 30–45 cm tall and up to 60 cm wide, with flower stalks extending to 60–70 cm. Its year-round presence makes it a valuable structural and colour element in the garden.
