Lychnis coronaria 'Alba', commonly known as White Rose Campion, is a beautiful herbaceous perennial grown for its brilliant white flowers and striking silvery-grey foliage. Flowering from late spring through to late summer, this elegant plant creates a wonderful contrast in borders and naturalistic planting schemes. The pure white blooms are carried on slender upright stems above soft, woolly silver leaves, giving the plant a light and airy appearance.

Growing to approximately 60–80cm tall with a spread of 30–45cm, 'Alba' is perfect for cottage gardens, gravel gardens and sunny borders. Although often grown as a perennial, it can be relatively short-lived, but it readily self-seeds in favourable conditions, ensuring a continuous display for years to come. Its nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinating insects.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering and foliage colour.
• Tolerates light partial shade.
• Prefers well-drained soil.
• Thrives in sandy, chalky and loamy soils.
• Improve heavy clay soils with compost and horticultural grit before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the crown level with the surrounding soil surface.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a light mulch around the base while keeping the crown clear.
• Space plants approximately 35–45cm apart.

Lychnis coronaria 'Alba' is a hardy, drought-tolerant perennial requiring very little maintenance.

• Water regularly during the first growing season.
• Once established, water only during prolonged dry periods.
• Avoid waterlogged soil, particularly in winter.
• Feed lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser.
• Avoid excessive feeding, which encourages leafy growth rather than flowers.
• Remove weeds regularly while plants establish.
• Water container-grown plants when the compost becomes dry.
• Allow some flowers to produce seed if naturalising is desired.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
