Lysimachia ciliata 'Firecracker', commonly known as Purple Loosestrife 'Firecracker' or Purple-leaved Loosestrife, is a striking herbaceous perennial grown for its dramatic deep burgundy-purple foliage and bright golden-yellow flowers. The vivid blooms appear along the stems from mid to late summer, creating a stunning contrast against the rich dark leaves.

Growing to approximately 90–120cm tall with a spread of 60–90cm, 'Firecracker' forms an upright clump that adds bold colour, height and texture to borders. Its colourful foliage provides interest from spring until autumn, while the nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinating insects. It is particularly effective in cottage gardens, naturalistic planting schemes and beside ponds or streams where the soil remains consistently moist.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the richest foliage colour and best flowering.
• Will tolerate partial shade, although the foliage may be less intensely coloured.
• Prefers fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.
• Thrives in consistently moist locations and is suitable for pond margins.
• Improve poor soils with compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the crown level with the surrounding soil surface.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a 5–8cm layer of organic mulch around the base to conserve moisture.
• Space plants approximately 60–75cm apart.

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
