Overview and Features

Nepeta 'Purrsian Blue' is a compact, refined variety of Catmint known for its neatly mounded habit, continuous blooms, and low maintenance needs. Bred for both beauty and resilience, this hybrid produces masses of lavender-blue flower spikes from late spring through early autumn, often blooming more profusely than other Nepetas.

What sets 'Purrsian Blue' apart is its tidy, non-flopping shape and dense flowering habit. It maintains its form beautifully throughout the season, even in hot, dry conditions. The aromatic grey-green foliage is both deer- and rabbit-resistant, and the blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and pollinators.

It is ideal for small spaces, front-of-border planting, and containers, typically growing to 30–40 cm in height and 45–50 cm in spread.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

‘Purrsian Blue’ is an easy, trouble-free perennial suited to sunny, well-drained spots. It needs minimal care once established.

• Light Requirements:

  • Thrives in full sun

  • Can tolerate light shade, though flowering may be reduced

• Soil Preferences:

  • Prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil

  • Grows well in sandy, chalky, or loamy soils

  • Avoid waterlogged or heavy clay areas

• Watering:

  • Water during establishment

  • Once settled, it is drought-tolerant

  • In containers, water moderately and allow topsoil to dry between watering

• Feeding:

  • Requires little to no fertiliser

  • A light application of balanced fertiliser in spring is sufficient

• Pruning and Maintenance:

  • No deadheading required to rebloom, but trimming spent spikes can neaten appearance

  • Cut back hard in early spring to encourage fresh, bushy growth

  • Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
