Description and Characteristics

Osteospermum ecklonis Serenity™ 'Pink Eyed' is a captivating, sun-loving African Daisy cultivar from the popular Serenity™ series, bred for compact growth, vibrant colour, and continuous flowering. This variety is especially striking, with creamy-white to pale pink petals and a distinctive bright magenta-pink eye, surrounded by a purple or blue central disc—offering brilliant contrast and floral elegance.

The Serenity™ series is known for its early and prolific blooming, with excellent performance in both borders and containers. ‘Pink Eyed’ produces masses of blooms from late spring into autumn, forming a neat, low-growing mound of mid-green foliage. The flowers open fully in bright sunlight and close in dim light or shade—a characteristic trait of most Osteospermum.

This variety typically grows to about 25–35 cm in height with a spread of 30–45 cm, making it a great choice for window boxes, patio pots, baskets, and the front of sunny borders.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Osteospermum 'Pink Eyed' is easy to grow, requiring only sunlight, good drainage, and regular feeding to perform at its best. It is drought-tolerant once established, and its tidy shape makes it suitable for modern or informal designs.

• Light Requirements:

  • Requires full sun for best flowering and form

  • Blooms may close in cloudy weather or at night

• Soil Preferences:

  • Prefers light, free-draining soil with moderate fertility

  • Tolerates sandy, loamy, or gritty compost blends

  • Avoid clay or poorly draining soils—add grit if necessary

• Watering Needs:

  • Water consistently during dry spells, especially for containers

  • Allow the top layer of compost to dry slightly between waterings

  • Overwatering can lead to root rot in heavy soils

• Feeding:

  • Feed every 2–3 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the flowering season

  • Slow-release fertiliser at planting provides season-long nutrients in borders

• Deadheading and Pruning:

  • Deadhead regularly to extend flowering through summer and autumn

  • Trim back lightly in midsummer to refresh growth and encourage rebloom

  • In autumn, cut back or remove plants if overwintering indoors

• Winter Care:

  • Half-hardy: not frost tolerant (RHS H2–H3)

  • Treat as an annual in colder regions or overwinter in a frost-free conservatory

  • In mild climates, may survive in well-drained beds with mulch and shelter

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
