Description and Characteristics

Pulmonaria ‘Majestee’ is a standout cultivar of the lungwort family, prized for its exceptionally bright silver foliage and delicate, bi-coloured blooms. A reliable shade perennial, it produces clusters of funnel-shaped flowers that open pink and mature to violet-blue, creating a multi-toned display in early to mid-spring.

Its striking silver-white leaves with narrow green margins persist through the growing season, making it as valuable for foliage as for flowers. Pulmonaria 'Majestee' forms a compact, mounding clump of foliage, typically reaching 25–30 cm tall and 45–60 cm wide, offering excellent ground coverage under trees or in shady borders.

This variety is well known for its mildew resistance, vigorous growth, and long-lasting foliage colour, making it a favourite for woodland gardens, shaded containers, and pollinator-friendly plantings.

Growing Conditions and Maintenance

Pulmonaria 'Majestee' is a low-maintenance plant suited to part to full shade, and thrives in moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. It is a reliable performer in woodland settings and under deciduous canopies.

• Light Requirements:

  • Prefers partial to full shade

  • Tolerates morning sun if soil remains cool and moist

  • Avoid full sun in hot, dry regions

• Soil Preferences:

  • Requires moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil

  • Tolerates a range of pH levels but prefers neutral to slightly acidic

  • Add compost or leaf mould to improve soil texture

• Watering Needs:

  • Keep soil evenly moist, especially during dry spells in summer

  • Mulch in spring to help retain soil moisture

  • Avoid overly dry or soggy soil conditions

• Feeding:

  • Apply a light compost mulch or organic feed in early spring

  • No heavy feeding required—excess nitrogen may reduce flowering

• Deadheading and Pruning:

  • Remove spent flower stems after bloom to tidy the plant

  • Trim back tired or damaged foliage in midsummer to encourage fresh regrowth

  • Clean up dead leaves in early spring

• Winter Care:

  • Hardy in Zones 4–8 (RHS H7)

  • Semi-evergreen in colder climates; evergreen in mild areas

  • Mulch lightly in late autumn in exposed areas for root protection

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
