Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm', commonly known as Black-eyed Susan, is one of the finest late-summer flowering perennials, celebrated for its brilliant golden-yellow daisy-like flowers with prominent dark brown centres. Flowering from mid-summer through to autumn, it provides a spectacular display of colour just when many other perennials are beginning to fade.

Growing to approximately 60–75cm tall with a spread of 45–60cm, 'Goldsturm' forms sturdy clumps of deep green foliage topped with masses of long-lasting blooms. Its upright habit and exceptional garden performance have made it one of the most popular perennials for borders and wildlife gardens. The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, while the seed heads provide food for birds during autumn and winter if left in place.

Planting Guide

• Plant in full sun for the best flowering display.
• Will tolerate light partial shade.
• Prefers fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.
• Suitable for loam, sandy and clay soils with good drainage.
• Improve poor soils with compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.
• Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
• Carefully remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
• Position the crown level with the surrounding soil surface.
• Backfill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly.
• Apply a 5–8cm layer of organic mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
• Space plants approximately 45–60cm apart.

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
