Senetti Varieties

Senetti is a striking early-season flowering plant from the Pericallis genus, known for its vivid colours and outstanding performance in cooler temperatures. Originally bred from wild Cineraria, Senetti hybrids are famous for their daisy-like blooms, intense pigmentation, and impressive flowering window that spans early spring into summer.

Senetti varieties come in an array of blues, purples, magentas, pinks, and bi-colour combinations. They are ideal for pots, containers, window boxes, and borders, providing early-season interest when few other plants are in bloom. These plants are compact, bushy, and fast-growing, making them a fantastic choice for adding a bold pop of colour to gardens, patios, and balconies.

Planting and Positioning Tips

Proper planting and positioning are essential for healthy growth and long-lasting flowers.

• Light Requirements:

  • Best in full sun to partial shade.

  • Prefers morning sun with some afternoon shade, especially in warmer climates to prevent scorching.

• Ideal Planting Time:

  • Plant in early spring, once the risk of hard frost has passed.

  • Suitable for early retail sales and garden use from March onwards.

• Soil Requirements:

  • Requires well-draining, fertile soil.

  • If planting in containers, use a good quality multipurpose compost with added slow-release fertiliser.

• Container Growing:

  • Perfect for containers and patio pots due to their compact and mounding habit.

  • Use containers with adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

• Spacing:

  • Allow approx. 25–30 cm between plants to ensure good air circulation and promote healthy foliage.

Seasonal Care & Maintenance

Senetti is relatively easy to care for with just a few simple practices to extend its flowering potential.

• Watering:

  • Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy.

  • Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering.

  • Plants in containers may require daily watering during warmer weather.

• Feeding:

  • Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks during the growing and flowering period.

  • For longer performance, consider using slow-release fertiliser pellets at planting.

• Deadheading:

  • Regularly remove faded or spent flowers to encourage new blooms and maintain a tidy appearance.

  • Cut back flower stems to a healthy leaf node to promote fresh growth.

• Pruning:

  • After the first flush of flowers, Senetti responds well to a light trim to encourage a second blooming period.

  • Cut back about a third of the plant to rejuvenate and stimulate further growth.

• Temperature Tolerance:

  • Tolerates cooler temperatures (down to around 1–2°C), making it perfect for early-season display.

  • Not frost hardy – protect from hard frost or bring indoors overnight if necessary.

• Pests and Diseases:

  • Generally pest-free but may occasionally attract aphids or whitefly.

  • Use a gentle insecticidal soap if infestations appear.

  • Good air circulation helps prevent issues like powdery mildew.

All standard deliveries will be completed within 5-7 working days via Fastway Couriers, any delay to this delivery time, the customer will be notified by One of our staff.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
