Overview & Features

• Vitis Mix 2 Ltr is a selection of mixed grapevine varieties supplied at approximately 50 cm in height.

• Varieties may include red, green, or dark-skinned grapes depending on availability.

• Suitable for fresh eating, juicing, or light winemaking depending on the type supplied.

• Deciduous climbing vines with attractive lobed green foliage.

• Foliage often develops warm autumn colour before leaf fall.

• Typically grows 3–5 metres in length when mature.

• Most modern varieties are self-fertile.

• Ideal for walls, pergolas, trellis systems, and greenhouses.

Mixed selections provide variety in flavour, colour, and harvest time.

Planting & Positioning

• Plant in full sun for best fruit ripening and sweetness.

• Choose a warm, sheltered position protected from strong winds.

• South- or west-facing walls are ideal in cooler climates.

• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.

• Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils.

• Dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball and the same depth.

• Position slightly away from walls so roots can access natural rainfall.

• Provide strong support such as horizontal wires, pergolas, or trellis.

• Space vines 1.5–2 metres apart to allow room for growth.

Maximum sunlight and good airflow are essential for healthy vines.

Watering, Feeding & Flowering

• Water regularly during the first growing season to establish strong roots.

• Keep soil evenly moist during prolonged dry spells.

• Avoid excessive watering once fruit begins to ripen.

• Feed in early spring with a balanced fertiliser to encourage vigorous growth.

• Apply compost annually to improve soil structure and fertility.

• Flowering typically occurs in late spring to early summer.

• Grapes ripen from late summer into early autumn depending on variety.

Consistent warmth and sunlight improve flavour and crop quality.

Pruning, Maintenance & General Care

• Prune annually in winter while vines are dormant.

• Train along horizontal wires using a cordon or fan system.

• Remove excess side shoots in summer to improve airflow and fruit quality.

• Thin grape clusters if necessary to enhance size and ripening.

• Protect ripening fruit from birds using netting.

• Monitor for powdery mildew and ensure good ventilation.

• Mulch annually to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

With full sun, proper training, and regular pruning, Vitis mixed varieties will provide attractive foliage and reliable crops of grapes year after year

All standard deliveries will be completed within 5-7 working days via Fastway Couriers, any delay to this delivery time, the customer will be notified by One of our staff.

The in-Store delivery charge will vary compared with online, in-store delivery charge is done on a case by case basis.

Live Plants Delivery

Our live plants are packed with care and diligence by our staff, our horticulturists review each plant before despatch to ensure quality is maintained.
Live Plant delivery charges are not calculated on weight but on the space required per package to ensure safe delivery, so delivery charges may vary as some plants require more space than others when packed.
All live plants are despatched within 3-5 working days where possible, our couriers aim to deliver within 48 hours of despatch from our Garden Centre to allow the plant to arrive in healthy condition.
 

Click & Collect

Can’t wait for delivery? Why not try our FREE Click & Collect service? Simply make your purchase online and collect it from our store located in Croagh Co. Limerick. Our staff will contact you by phone when your order is ready for collection (Please allow 24 hours minimum). When collecting your item, call the store on 069-64084. We will then load into your car as required. This service is available in-store 9am – 6pm Monday – Saturday (No collections on Sundays)
